Maryha and Arthur’s Goliad State Park engagement session felt less like a formal photo shoot and more like an evening spent with family and friends exploring one of the most beautiful places in South Texas. From the moment we arrived, the excitement was contagious.
Their family came along to help with wardrobe changes and cheer them on, which instantly created such a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. As we walked along the paths, the conversation naturally turned to just how beautiful Goliad State Park is. Everyone agreed the trails are incredible, yet many of them realized they hadn’t visited since elementary school field trips. By the end of the evening, several family members were already talking about planning future visits to explore the park again.
Of course, no memorable session is complete without a little unexpected excitement. At one point we heard the strangest noise echoing through the park. Arthur was completely convinced it was something straight out of a horror movie—at one point even joking that it sounded like a demon. After a moment of confusion and a few nervous laughs, we discovered the real source: a small child nearby who was also having family photos taken. The relief was instant and the laughter that followed made the moment even better.
Another hilarious moment happened when we came across a skull and crossbones plaque. Arthur and Maryha’s dad teamed up to briefly convince me that pirates once roamed through Goliad. For a split second I almost believed them before realizing they were fully committed to the joke. Whether or not there’s any pirate history there is still up for debate, but it definitely gave everyone a good laugh.
Throughout the evening, Arthur’s tenderness toward Maryha stood out so clearly. He was constantly making sure she was comfortable and helping with small dress adjustments between photos. Those quiet, thoughtful moments spoke volumes about the kind of partner he is and the care he has for her.
The entire session was filled with laughter, lighthearted teasing, and the kind of joy that naturally happens when families truly enjoy being together. Being surrounded by people who love and support them made the evening feel even more special.
Maryha and Arthur’s engagement session was such a delight from beginning to end. Between the scenic trails, unexpected laughs, and the warmth of their family, it was a perfect reminder that the best photo sessions are the ones where everyone simply gets to enjoy the moment together. I’m already looking forward to celebrating their next chapter as they step into married life.
